You Know You are in Kansas when.........

You know you are in Kansas when:

1. You knock on someone's door, ask if you could use her hose to wash your hair and she invites you to use her shower.  Not only did she invite us to come in, but she was on her way out to her daughters soccer game and was going leave us in her house all alone..........what in the world????   Doesn't she know that people can't be trusted from California.  It's encouraging to know that some of our country still believes in the goodness of mankind.

2. The cyclists ride by and every (literally) every cow stops and stares as you pass by.  What is that?  Have they never seen grown men in spandex?  I guess they are used to the Wrangler kind of men!

3.   When every road kill you see is either turtle or armadillo.........ewwww

4.  When it is HOT and HUMID!!

5.  When every house has a plaque in front with their last name.

6.  When every other mile you see a silo or green elevator instead of a Starbucks.

7.  When people use 1950's cars as lawn decor for their front yard.

In all seriousness, we have had quite a day!!!!!  With our abrupt start this morning we had a few tempers flare, laundry that didn't finish drying, another tire issue in the rented RV......all this mounted to bring us to our knees and help us remember why we are out here!

Doug called a team meeting where we were able to come together as a whole and remember how much we have to be thankful for.  We came as one body, all with different gifts and bowed our heads to our Lord and Savior, grateful for all he has done for us and for all that he has given to us!!!  We are soooo blessed!  While the trials are never fun, submitting to our Lord, we always come out refined by the fire!  That is what we have been given today.  We also have a renewed sense of purpose and camaraderie because of the tests.

James 1:2-4

New International Version (NIV)

Trials and Temptations
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers.  We have talked with several teams that have lost their teammates to injuries.  We have truly been blessed with God's protection!  Love to all our families and friends!  Be sure to check out our LIVE webcast at 6:30pm at teamlearning4life.org
