Utah to Colorado

Elizabeth with her man
before he takes off.
We had a transition in what I call a Ghetto town........Montezuma Creek, UT.....Dogs running loose, trash everywhere type of place.  We ate a yummy lunch made by Linda and Elizabeth and headed out of there as soon as our team arrived.

Ghetto!!!!

Colorado here we come.  This driving  time was my sleep rotation, so Lauren will have to update you on all the fun later :-).  My crew that I drive with (Dan and Robbie) finally got some great sleep!  Wow, I can honestly say that I have never experienced such a great need to sleep.  When you are consciously saying to yourself stay awake and the next thing that happens is you are awoken by the head nod.....then you know you are tired.  Luckily Dan was driving at that time.  It is actually really scary to be that tired and   having your team rely on you to stay awake.

We awoke to the sound of a rushing river in Durango, Colorado.  What a great gift to wake to.  Durango is a beautiful little city.  Bob, Rick and Tony were also able to get some much needed sleep.  Craig arrived into Durango and Rick headed out.  We are the follow crew this rotation.  5 miles into Rick's ride, the shuttle vehicle (the suburban that carries the cyclists that are on that exchange rotation) alerts us to let us know that they have a flat tire.  ugh!  The riders tend to ride 10 miles and then another team member takes over while they climb back into the shuttle to rest.........Rick ended up riding 17 miles before they could get their tire changed and make the exchange.  Rick did an awesome job.  At one point he had some Mountain Biker from Kansas pulled up next to him and had a chat while they did a big climb.  Not sure if Rick was enjoying the conversation or not.......we will have to ask him later.  The boys are now making the climb over the Rockies.......Go Team Learning 4 Life!
Rick climbing out of Durango!
Rick making a new friend
Dave "carbing" up for his next shift!

Craig and Dr. Doug after he rode into Durango......all smiles.  Ready for a homemade meal from his Momma!
